Viva Social — Safety Disclosure

Effective: 2026-08-13

This page is required reading before you meet anyone from Viva Social. It is also the disclosure several states require internet dating services to make to their residents, including New Jersey under the Internet Dating Safety Act (N.J.S.A. 56:8-169 et seq.).

WE DO NOT CONDUCT CRIMINAL BACKGROUND SCREENINGS

Technology Advantages LLC does not conduct criminal background screenings on its members. We have never conducted them and we do not currently plan to.

This means:

If we ever begin conducting criminal background screenings, we will update this page and notify members before the change takes effect. Even then, no screening catches everything: records are incomplete, they vary by jurisdiction, and people give false information.

What the Verified badge actually means

Verification is optional. When a member chooses to verify, Stripe Identity checks a government ID document against a live selfie and returns a pass or fail result to us. We never receive the document or the images.

A Verified badge means one thing: the person in the primary photo appears to be a real adult holding a matching government ID.

It does not mean:

An unverified member is not necessarily dangerous, and a verified member is not necessarily safe.

Safety practices we ask you to follow

These are the ones that actually matter. Most harm on dating platforms happens in the gap between the app and the first meeting.

Before you meet

  1. Keep conversation inside Viva Social until you are comfortable. Moving to another app removes our ability to see reports and take action.
  2. Do a basic search on the person's name and photo. If a photo appears elsewhere under a different name, that is worth knowing.
  3. Be suspicious of anyone who will not video chat, who has an urgent crisis, who professes strong feelings very quickly, or who steers toward investments, crypto, gift cards, or any request for money. These are the most common patterns in romance fraud, and they work because they are patient.
  4. Never send money, cryptocurrency, gift cards, or account details to someone you have not met. There is no version of this that ends well.

When you meet

  1. Meet in a public place. Viva Social is built around restaurants for exactly this reason.
  2. Arrange your own transport, both ways. Do not be dependent on your date to get home.
  3. Use Share plans with a friend. One tap sends the venue, the time, your match's first name and primary photo to someone you trust. It is in the app because we want you to use it every time.
  4. Keep your drink with you. Do not accept a drink you did not see poured.
  5. Do not share your home address, workplace, financial details, or documents.
  6. Trust the feeling. Leaving early costs you nothing. Tell staff at the venue if you feel unsafe and need help getting out.

Afterwards

  1. Block and report anyone who makes you uncomfortable. Blocking is immediate and silent. Reports go to our trust and safety team and are reviewed within 24 hours.
  2. Report to us even if you have already reported to the police. We act on accounts; they act on people. Both matter.

If something happens

If you are in immediate danger, call 911.

For sexual assault, the National Sexual Assault Hotline is 1-800-656-4673 (RAINN), free and confidential, 24 hours.

For domestic and dating abuse, the National Domestic Violence Hotline is 1-800-799-7233, or text START to 88788.

If you have been defrauded, report to the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center at ic3.gov and to the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov.

Then tell us at support@technologyadvantagesllc.com. We will preserve the relevant account data, remove the account where our Community Guidelines were broken, and cooperate with valid legal process from law enforcement. See our Law Enforcement Guidelines for how that works.

What we do on our side

We are telling you what we do so you can judge it honestly, not to suggest it substitutes for the practices above.

We do not screen members for criminal history, we do not verify employment or education, and we cannot know what a person intends.
